Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have led to blackouts in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while local people in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and dealt with problems to water systems, as stated by city officials.

At the same time, a seven-year-old child was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to area administrators.

Moscow has escalated strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from partner nations to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not superficial actions but decisive action - from the United States, Europe and the major economies - in providing protection systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 rockets struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, labeling such assaults as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as the weather cools.

Government representatives said Russia was "launching a major assault" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck power facilities and residential structures in the capital.

Multiple people injured in the attacks on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region experienced intense attacks during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child lost their life and multiple civilians were injured.

The strikes succeed nights of bombing campaigns in the area, portions of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

The whole nation is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to detect.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was purposely seeking to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already impacting gas facilities.

Officials stated utility staff and officials were preparing for additional strikes.
